chapter
Our focus this year
will be on increasing the members
of EACA through various
events, tailored to the needs and request of a large number of our
community,
such as trips, lectures, picnics, presentations, organization of
concerts and
participation with other organizations that focus on bringing Egyptians
together. We want to attract more families, youth, children, students
and young
professionals to our activities. We hope that everyone feels welcome
and knows that we are open
for discussion and new ideas. Anyone with ideas may submit their plans
through e-mail and we will work all together to implementing it. The

A brief history
In
the early 1970s, a group of prominent Egyptian-American leaders
recognized the need for creating an Egyptian-American association. The
leaders included Mr.
Fouad
Munib, Dr.
Ahmed El-Nagar,
Mr. George Milad,
Dr. Dousoky Dousoky, Dr. Abdel Fattah Abdalla, Mr. Salah Negm,
and others who embarked on a vision and a mission towards promoting
greater interaction among Egyptian-Americans in the Washington
Metropolitan Area. They also recognized the need to encourage effective
participation of the new generations, to provide the Egyptian-American
community with cultural and social activities, where a sense of unity
and belonging are strengthened, to maintain, to promote and to
celebrate all aspects of our rich heritage, and to foster mutual
understanding between the Egyptian-American Community and the community
at large. One of the major goals of the founders was to maintain and
strengthen greater ties with Egypt.
Based on that great spirit, the dedication and extraordinary efforts by the leaders and the support and the enthusiasm of many members of the community, the Egyptian American Cultural Association, EACA, was established.
